Lest We Forget

Flanders Field

John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

My painting routine/set up

When I paint, I have an entire set up and routine so I can make the most of my time.

What is my favorite type of painting to create?

By far, my favorite thing to do when painting is create a nature landscape painting that looks completely normal until you realize that there’s a piece of the painting that doesn’t necessarily belong in the “real” world. I love creating paintings and placing my favorite characters from a book, movie, or TV show in the painting. A little touch of fantasy and magic.

What do you like creating?

I Need To Get A Different Cup

I can’t count how many times I am painting and I instinctively reach out to drink from my paint cup. I keep telling myself that I have to write on my cup or make it obvious that it is not to drink out of. Thankfully I have never gone as far as actually drinking my paint water but I have come pretty close.

Have any of you experienced this? I hope I’m not the only one who almost accidentally poisons themselves with paint water!

My top five favorite colours (including my two favorite shades of said colour)

  1. Purple (Lilac and Plum)
  2. Blue (Navy and Maya)
  3. Green (Seafoam and Forest)
  4. Yellow (Amber and Bumblebee)
  5. Red (Crimson and Carmine)

What are your favourite colours/shades? Comment on this post and tell me.

Why I paint?

I paint to relax and force myself to focus on something other than my anxieties.

I paint to distract my hands while I am listening to recorded lectures.

I paint to create art for my friends and family.

I paint because I like envisioning a world with a bit more magic in it.

I paint to remind myself to breathe because you can’t make proper brush strokes when you are holding your breath.

These are just some of the reasons why I paint.

Do you paint? If you do, comment on your reasons for painting. If you don’t, comment on why you don’t paint or dislike painting.
